Additional info/contents	The work “Dream” by the young Austrian composer Dana Schraml lets us immerse ourselves in a world full of different dreams. Great joy, courage and, above all, things that seem impossible when we are awake. So many things come true in our nightly dreams, but they can also become a nightmare. The well-known “fall into nothingness” or the feeling of being followed sometimes keeps us awake. But fortunately, this dream ends well and you can enjoy the end with peace of mind. Without following a strict architecture, the work “Dream” can be formally divided into three main parts. Following the traditional “fast-slow-fast” structure, the composition begins with a driving, constantly repeating basic rhythm. Alongside fanfare-like interjections, there is a large-scale, epic main theme that leads into a pop-music section. An alto saxophone solo and trumpet effects briefly transform the orchestra into a big band before the dark side of the dream world emerges: mysterious solos for horn and bass clarinet whisper in an atmosphere of spooky and frightening. The last part is reminiscent of the beginning both thematically and rhythmically, making the work a coherent unit. With an effective ending, we finally return from an exciting dream journey to reality.
