Composer Balfoort, Rob
Difficulty level 3
Duration 4:30
Additional info/contents A Tribute to Louis is a solo for trumpet accompanied by harmony or fanfare orchestra. Naturally with a reference to the world-famous trumpeter Louis Armstrong (born 1901, died 1971). Armstrong was a legendary trumpeter and singer who was born in New Orleans. He lived mainly in Chicago and New York during his life, which consisted entirely of music. He had an incredible impact on the jazz scene in the US and eventually worldwide. His nicknames were "Satchmo" or "Satch", short for "Satchelmouth". He was also known as "Dippermouth", like "Satchmo", a reference to his big mouth. He was usually addressed as "Pops" by friends and colleagues. His best-known hits include "What a Wonderful World", "Hello Dolly" and "It Takes Two to Tango".
Rob Balfoort pays tribute to this fantastic musician in this fun piece in 2 styles; "slow" and in an "up-tempo" in the tradition of New Orleans Jazz.
This composition was created in part with the help of a working grant from the Music Investment Fund, an initiative of Buma/Stemra in collaboration with Voiİe, the Federation of Copyright Interests and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
