Additional info/contents The Black Corsair, the Italian aristocrat who becomes a privateer to avenge the death of his two brothers at the hands of the Flemish Duke Wan Guld, is the protagonist of Emilio Salgari's novel of the same name.

The waters of the Caribbean are dark, the fog is thick. In the darkness of the night only the hissing of the wind between the sails and the crackle of the wood can be heard. The bow of a ship cuts the waves majestically: it is the Thunder, in command of the Black Corsair! The adventures of the noble pirate begin like this, swearing revenge for the death of the two brothers, the Red Corsair and the Green Corsair, on the Flemish Duke Wan Guld who made them hang after betraying them. Among a thousand adventures, the protagonist of the famous novel by Emilio Salgari will show his value and his prowess until his crew takes Honorata prisoner, a false name behind which the beautiful daughter of the Flemish duke is hiding. The Black Corsair falls in love with her, but his honor will prevail, and he will respect his oath of revenge: he will abandon the beloved woman to the waves of the sea. And it is only in that moment, in the last lines of the story, that the Corsair will show his first and only moment of weakness ... “Look!—whispers Morgan, his trusted helmsman—the Black Corsair cries ... .”

The Black Corsair, written by Italian author Emilio Salgari, is a true classic and is one of the most famous works of adventure literature. "The Black Corsair" is set in the 17th century and is about the pirate captain Emilio di Roccabruna, better known as the Black Corsair. With his loyal entourage he sails across the seven seas and causes fear and terror among the rich people of this world. But behind his hard shell lies a man with a tragic past. The love for his family and the loss of them represent the central conflict of the novel and drive the Black Corsair to unpredictable actions.

Salgari's writing style is gripping and captivating. He masterfully captures the atmosphere at sea and immerses the reader in the world of pirates. His detailed descriptions of the ships, the storms and the exotic locations bring the story to life and awaken your wanderlust for distant lands. What makes this novel so special is the diversity of the characters. In addition to the Black Corsair, we meet his brave companions, including the red-haired pirate Carmaux and the quiet but clever Van Stiller. Each of them has their own story and contributes to the suspense of the novel. The female characters are also strong and independent, which was not a given in Salgari's time. Princess Honorata, for example, is not only beautiful, but also brave and intelligent.

Besides all the adventure and action, Salgari also offers a touch of romance. The love story between the Black Corsair and the beautiful Aida melts the reader's heart and adds another emotional level to the story.

The Black Corsair is a novel full of heart and passion. It grabs the reader from the first page and doesn't let go until the end. The mix of adventure, romance and dramatic twists makes this book a real page turner.
