Additional info/contents
Jacco Nefs' arrangement of the overture to the Light Cavalry by Franz von Suppé shows how a work of classical music tradition can shine in a new ensemble format. Nefs' arrangement remains true to the original and at the same time shows the sonic strengths of a wind orchestra. With a fine sense of the dynamics and character of the piece, Nefs convincingly brings the essence of the "light cavalry" with its typical rhythm and melody to the stage. Thanks to his ability to make optimal use of the sonic peculiarities of a wind orchestra, he succeeds in interpreting Suppé's music in a way that delights the audience as much as the original.
