Inspired by a documentary about eagles and other large birds of prey, the composer evokes the hunting grounds of these animals. Eagles were and are often used as symbols by countries because they radiate power, beauty and independence.With their broad wings, sturdy beaks, and sharp claws they often fly very high. They look for prey in mountain ranges and vast forests. Once they spot a target they descend quickly to grab their prey just above the ground.

Programme notes *: In the deep forests of a remote mountain range stretched a land ruled by majestic eagles. These imposing birds, with their powerful beaks and sharp talons, streaked the skies with a grace that reflected their strength and independence. Sven Van Calster, a passionate composer, was inspired by the epic beauty and vivid drama of this eagle world. He decided to transform these majestic creatures into sound and created the composition "Where Eagles Fly". This film-like musical journey was intended to take viewers to the eagles' hunting grounds, high above the mountain peaks and deep into the vast forests where they tracked their prey. The sounds of the composition reflected the sublime flight of the eagles, from the majestic heights to the rapid swoops upon their prey. The music was a vivid portrait of her beauty and her merciless hunting skills. Trumpets and horns proclaimed the eagles' freedom while the strings captured the soaring elegance of their flights. The first act of the composition immersed the listeners in the majestic world of eagles. The melodies soared into the heights as the instruments recreated the majestic dance of eagles in the skies. The soundscape was designed to make you feel like you were immersed in the thermal winds over the mountain peaks as the eagles circled. The second act took the audience on a hunt. The music became more intense, full of excitement and anticipation as the eagles soared over the forests in search of their prey. The soundscape reflected the crucial moments when the eagles glided in a breathtaking dive to capture their prey with precise movements. Finally, the third act led the audience into the freedom and independence of the eagles. The melodies rose in triumphant crescendos as the sounds reached the peak of the Eagles' freedom and strength. Sven Van Calster had managed to transform the majestic world of eagles into sound, and listeners were taken on a sonic journey that honored the beauty, power and independence of these fascinating birds.
