Schon bald wurde der Song von zahlreichen Sängern gecovert und trat so seinen Siegeszug um die Welt an, der bis heute anhält. Diese musikalische Liebeserklärung an einen Fluss lässt sich natürlich auch bestens instrumental darstellen, besonders schön auf Streichinstrumenten. Nico Dezaire lässt in seinem einfühlsamen Arrangement für Streichquartett jeden der vier Musiker an der sehnsuchtsvollen Melodie teilhaben.
