Additional info/contents This composition was written on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the De Pinte wind band. This is also the derivation of Latin title Aureus (golden - from the word aurum, or gold). This work is comprised of three main sections. The first and last sections are predominantly a musical setting of the concepts of celebration and joy in keeping with the theme of jubilee. The music is therefore above all dynamic, energetic and extrovert. The middle section has a more introspective, melodic character, contemplating the subtle beauty of life. Aureus is a newly composed chorale that establishes the most important attributes in life and also within a club or association: love, friendship, health and happiness.

The term "aureus" is derived from the Latin word for "golden" and is used in music to describe a tonal quality that is perceived as particularly rich, warm and radiant. Similar to the shimmering glow of a golden sunset, the term "Aureus" gives the music a special aura and a touch of elegance.

In many musical contexts, the term "aureus" is used to emphasize the golden quality of a tone, melody or sound. Composers and musicians often strive to create this rich and warm sound to create a particularly engaging and emotional effect. An example of the use of the term "aureus" in music can be found in classical music, particularly in relation to string instruments such as the violin. Through choice of bowing, intonation, and articulation, a skilled violinist can create an "aureus" sound that captivates the audience and evokes a profound emotional resonance. The term “aureus” is also used in the world of vocal art to describe a particularly rich and melodic vocal quality. Singers who are able to produce a golden sound are often perceived as particularly outstanding and impressive.

It is important to emphasize that the "Aureus" sound is not limited to specific genres or eras, but represents a timeless quality in music. From classical to jazz to contemporary styles, musicians strive to imbue their sounds with a golden brilliance that touches listeners' hearts. In music, the term "Aureus" is more than just a description of the sound - it symbolizes an artistic search for beauty and expressiveness. The golden note will continue to play an inspiring role in music, and musicians will always strive to bring out the splendor of Aureus in their compositions and interpretations.
