Programme notes *: additional text

After the impressive beginning, the composition leads to a heroic theme introduced by the brass. The theme is characterised by strong melodies and powerful rhythms that create a heroic and optimistic mood. The melody is taken up and developed by various instrumental groups of the orchestra, with the woodwinds and percussion playing an important role. The heroic theme is enriched by contrasting sections and dynamic increases that give the piece depth and variety.

The climax of the Jubilant Fanfare is a glorious conclusion that develops from the heroic theme. Here all the instruments of the orchestra come together to create a powerful and jubilant soundscape. The melody is played in different voices and octaves, creating the effect of a grand musical firework. The timpani and cymbals provide additional momentum and add drama to the finale.

All in all, Michael Story's "Jubilant Fanfare" is an impressive and rousing composition that captivates the audience from beginning to end. The bold melodies, powerful rhythms and dynamic climaxes make the piece a festive and energetic highlight for any brass band concert.
