Additional info/contents This version for wind orchestra begins with a slow introduction, which is concluded with a powerful grandioso. A fast and light-footed section follows from bar 56, where the theme is heard for the first time in the original version. From bar 128, soloists are given the opportunity to improvise on the theme. This section can be repeated as often as desired. In the concluding section, the theme is freely played around in a colourful and changing instrumentation. At the end, the melody is heard once again in tutti and leads into a grand finale.

Symphonic poem about the melody from the computer game Tetris
Korobeiniki is a Russian song based on the poem of the same name written in 1861 by Nikolai Alexeyevich Nekrasov (1821 - 1878). The poem was printed in the magazine Sowremennik in the same year. Korobeiniki were peddlers who sold fabrics, household items and books, among other things, in pre-revolutionary Russia. The song became famous for its simple and catchy melody and the increasingly fast-paced dance character. It very quickly achieved the status of a Russian folk song. In terms of content, it is about love and the famous trick with which the young street vendor lures the black-eyed Katya into the rye field.

Korobeiniki was used as a background melody in the computer game 'Tetris' and thus became known in the western world. The song also found its way into the music of films such as 'Die durch die Hölle gehen', 'Snatch - Schweine und Diamanten' and 'The Man Who Knew Too Little'. The rock band 'Ozma' covered Korobeiniki and released the song on their 2002 album 'The Doubble Donkey Disc'. There are also countless techno and trance remixes of Korobeiniki by various artists.
