Additional info/contents The words of the American devotional song Sweet Hour of Prayer were written by Rev. William Walford in 1845. The tune, published in 1869, is the work of William B. Bradbury, a celebrated New England hymn tune writer. Heaton made this touching arrangement for trombone and piano for his son-in-law Bryan Stobart. I have scored it for brass band to enable wider performance of this lovely version.
