Evaluation level of countries D5 (German highest level)
Duration 7:35
Additional info/contents The "special occasion" for which Philip Sparke had the honour of writing this piece was the 200th anniversary of the Stadtmusik Bad Säckingen. As Bad Säckingen is widely known as the "trumpeter town", Sparke drew on the famous poem "Der Trompeter von Säckingen" by Joseph Victor Scheffel, which is based on a true story.
The overture begins with a majestic fanfare, which leads to a festive molto vivace. This is then joined by a radiant trumpet signal.
