Difficulty level 2
Duration 5:48
Additional info/contents Johann Sebastian Bach wrote many wonderful chorales. This chorale, originally a cantata by the famous composer, is an evening anthem. Roland Kernen used the hymn as the basis for his composition. After a majestic introduction, in which Roland Kernen maintains Bach's harmonic style, the chorale theme is introduced. Then follow two variations in which the theme is played in a different time signature than the original. The first variation is of a somewhat more peaceful nature than the second, through which a calm melodic line meanders elegantly. The work concludes with a repetition of the royal introduction.
