Additional info/contents	Divided into three movements, this composition is built around the interval of a descending third, which is characteristic of Northern Italian folk music. The first movement, “Intrada,” is a simple allegretto in ternary form A-B-A. The second movement, a sweet “Lullaby,” highlights in turn the wood instruments and the brass instruments and concludes by combining the two essential sections of the wind band. The main melody of the third and last part, titled “Folk Song,” borrows material from the Friulian song “Su la plui alte cime” and superimposes it onto the harmonic progressions of the two previous movements. The dialogue between the sections becomes increasingly thicker and articulated until it ends with a festive explosion of joy. Popular Suite has received the second prize at the competition for the “Centenary of Foundation” of San Martino Canavese.
