Additional info/contents The ancient city of Petra in Jordan is a natural and architectural wonder: a city built entirely into the rock, a unique and incredible spectacle! The city of Petra, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world, is a testament to breathtaking ingenuity, which is depicted in the composition of the same name, "Impressions of Petra". A mysterious introduction (can also be scored with alto saxophone) takes us back into history: First, the music tells the long-term construction process of the temples, streets, canals, tombs and the cemetery. Using a dance from the Middle East, the composition is also intended to represent the everyday life of the residents. Petra's power is then described musically. The main theme, which is announced several times throughout the piece without being heard in all its glory, is brought to the fore towards the end of the piece and offers the audience a final aerial view of the city of Petra with its diverse colors, its splendor and majestic charisma.
