Additional info/contents	Swiss Mountain Song is based on a popular traditional song from Switzerland’s Berner Land (Luegit vo Bärg und Tal). The original title of the song was "Abendlied der Wehrliknaben in Hofwyl". The melody was composed by organist, Ferdinand Fürchtegott Huber (1791-1863), whilst the text is taken from a poem by Josef Anton Jenne (1798-1870). Throughout his life, Huber was committed to the Swiss folk songs and the preservation of the Alphorn. Gilbert Tinner’s arrangement for concert band retains the folk flavour of the original, with the solo part playable by a flugel horn, euphonium or French horn.
