The Castle
It was the impressive history of the Neuwartenburg castle that inspired the composer to open the Sinfonietta with a powerful
fanfare in the style of classical party music. Dominated by brass players, there is some minimal accompaniment added to
create a symbiosis between the past and present. After a lyrical middle section the opening repeats to create a classic A-B-A form.

The Church – The St. Anna Cathedral
In no other place can you find happiness and sadness so close together as in a church, which is why the second movement begins with a quote from the writings from the Introit of a Requiem: "Lord, give them eternal peace – You will receive praise.
Lord – Answer my prayer”. After this introduction, a choral follows, to which an Ave Maria answers. Fritz Neuböck was lucky enough to visit the church during renovations, which made it possible for him to almost touch the roof by climbing the scaffolding. This is how he discovered that a text "Locus Iste” by Anton Bruckner was written in one of the arches. That is why he quietly combined the embellishment of the Ave Maria with this Bruckner choral and placed this beautiful work in the middle of his composition. People believe that when they are at the height of the top of the cathedral they're almost in heaven. The
composer felt that he only had to take one step through the beautiful church windows to reach heaven-- and that is how the end of the second part should be interpreted.

The Market
Timelkam and its market are inseparably linked. Whether it be the stresses of today's grocery shoppers today or just browsing the historical annual market, Fritz Neuböck has tried to bring all those different aspects together with an ecclesiastic and worldly mindset.

The Market Tower
In the fourth movement, the market tower is depicted as a sort of "guard” of history. The tower has been used for many purposes in its colorful history and still remains as an important intersection. And so begins the end of Neuböck's Sinfonietta, with tower bells at daybreak. Slowly, the region awakes and in the distance a parade of people walks toward the market tower. This parade forms an impressive conclusion to this composition in the form of a triumphant march.

The small town of Timelkam in Upper Austria and the composition "Sinfonietta #2" by Fritz Neuböck jun.

Timelkam, a charming small town in Upper Austria, has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. The town is located in the district of Vöcklabruck and has developed over the centuries into an important cultural and economic center of the region.

The first settlements in the region around Timelkam date back to Roman times, when the area was part of the Roman province of Noricum. However, the official foundation of the town took place in the Middle Ages. The name "Timelkam" is first mentioned in documents in the 11th century. The place quickly developed into an important trading center, which was favored by its favorable location on important trade routes.

In the Middle Ages, Timelkam Castle played a central role in the life of the town. The castle was not only a fortified residence, but also a symbol of power and protection for the residents. It served as an administrative center and was the scene of many historical events. Today, only ruins of the original castle remain, but they are a reminder of the town's significant past.

Timelkam Church, built in the 13th century, is another significant historical monument. Built in the Gothic style, it has undergone several reconstructions and extensions over the centuries. It played a central role in the community's religious and social life and is now a popular place for tourists and worshippers.

Timelkam's market square has always been the heart of town life. It was a place where goods were traded, festivals celebrated and important social interactions were maintained. The market square reflects the town's vibrant history and remains a central meeting place for residents to this day.

Another prominent landmark in the town is the historic tower, built in the 16th century. The tower originally served as a defensive tower and later as a bell tower. It offers stunning views over the town and the surrounding countryside and is a symbol of the resilience and community spirit of Timelkam's residents.

The composition: "Sinfonietta #2" by Fritz Neuböck jun.

The "Sinfonietta #2" for wind orchestra, composed by Fritz Neuböck jun., is a musical work that addresses the history and significant landmarks of Timelkam. The composition consists of four movements, each of which musically represents an important aspect of the town's history.

1. The Castle (Allegro): The first movement, "The Castle," is written in Allegro tempo and conveys the energy and dynamism of Timelkam's medieval castle. The music is characterized by lively rhythms and powerful melodies that reflect the castle's strength and importance as a protective and administrative center. By using powerful musical themes, Neuböck succeeds in bringing the castle's majestic atmosphere to life.

2. The Church (Lento): The second movement, "The Church," is in lento tempo and is dedicated to the spiritual and historical significance of Timelkam's church. Slow, solemn melodies and harmonious chords create an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The music captures the Gothic architecture and religious significance of the church and conveys a sense of awe and spirituality.

3. The Market (Vivo): In the third movement, "The Market," the tempos change to vivo, which means lively and vibrant. This section captures the bustling and joyful atmosphere of Timelkam's historic market square. Lively rhythms and playful melodies depict the hustle and bustle and social interactions of the people. The music reflects the vibrant commerce and lively culture of the market square.

4. The Tower (Moderato): The final movement, "The Tower," is in moderato tempo and describes Timelkam's historic tower. The music begins measured and majestic to emphasize the tower's steadfastness and historical weight. As the orchestration increases in intensity and density, the tower's significance as a symbol of the city's permanence and protection is emphasized.

Timelkam, with its rich history and striking landmarks, serves as an inspiring backdrop for Fritz Neuböck's "Sinfonietta #2." The composition musically captures the essential aspects of the city's history and offers a sonic journey through Timelkam's most important historical and cultural elements. Through the four movements, Neuböck succeeds in impressively bringing the past and beauty of this small Upper Austrian town to life.
