'Hook, Line, and Swinger' kocht von Anfang bis Ende und weist - nicht zufällig - einen großartigen Hook, jede Menge hipper Linien und Swing im Überfluss auf. Die Tonumfänge der Blechbläser sind moderat, und das Tempo ist flexibel. Die Nummer funktioniert wunderbar bei einem lässigen Tempo von 160 oder bei kniffligeren 180 Schlägen pro Minute, sie haben die freie Auswahl. Soli sind für Altsaxofon, Trompete und Piano vorgesehen, aber der Soloteil kann auch ausgeweitet werden, und so funktioniert dieses Stück wunderbar zur Eröffnung, als Schlussstück oder als Schwerpunktwerk für Konzert oder Wettbewerb. Take a catchy melody, add a clever set of chord changes, and top it all off with tight oh-so-swinging ensemble writing, and it all adds up to one tremendously fun and musical experience from the trusted pen of composer/arranger Rob Vuono, Jr.! 'Hook, Line, and Swinger' cooks from beginning to end and, not coincidentally, offers a great hook, plenty of hip lines, and swing to spare. The brass ranges are modest, and the tempo is flexible; the chart works beautifully at a leisurely 160 or an edgier 180, so the choice is yours. Solos are for Alto Sax, Trumpet, and Piano, but the solo section may be extended, so this piece works beautifully as an opener, closer, or featured piece for concert and contest. An added vibe part is provided for an extra dash of 'cool', but is totally optional. 'Hook, Line, and Swinger' is a refreshing and exciting chart that is fun to play as well as listen to, and is sure to be a mainstay in any library!
