Additional info/contents Markus Götz used three Swiss folk songs in his spectacular composition “Schweizer Mosaik“ (Swiss Mosaic): “S‘isch mer alles ei ding, ob i lach oder sing“, “La haut sur la montagne” and “Zoog ä-n am Boogä”. In doing so he processed the thematic material of the songs in fragments to create an independent concert work – like a mosaic where many small stones form one big picture.

It was a personal matter for the composer to present the Swiss as he experiences the country: both traditional and modern at the same time. Therefore he uses the songs with a new livery. Ländler melodies meet baroque music forms like the fugue, but even reminiscences of popular music appear. The middle part (Largo) is inspired by the splendid Swiss Alpine world and includes two special features. For one, the euphonium soloist stands off-stage and resounds as an echo. For another, at least three persons play untuned cowbells of different sizes. It is important that there is no rhythm, but they must sound as on a mountain meadow. Markus Götz created an impressive tone picture of a versatile country. The composition is dedicated to the conductor Ueli Zurbuchen for his leave of the Musikgesellschaft Ringgenberg.

The world of music often has fascinating ways of fusing traditional sounds with contemporary creativity. Markus Götz, an outstanding contemporary composer, has created an impressive example of this synthesis with his work "Swiss Mosaic". The piece draws on the rich tradition of Swiss folk music and forms an independent concert work that, like an artistic mosaic, creates an impressive overall picture from many small fragments.

"Swiss Mosaic" is a fascinating musical work of art based on three well-known Swiss folk songs: "S'isch mer alles ei ding, ob i laugh or sing," "La haut sur la montagne" and "Zoog ä-n am Boogä. " Markus Götz takes the thematic material of these songs and breaks it down into artistic fragments. These fragments serve as the small building blocks that he cleverly assembles into a new, independent sound fabric.

The comparison with a mosaic is particularly apt here. Similar to the artful design of a mosaic, in which many small stones create a large overall picture, Götz arranges the fragments of folk songs into a fascinating and multifaceted carpet of sound. Each fragment retains its authenticity and gives the work a deep roots in the Swiss folk music tradition, while at the same time creating something completely new and original.

The creative synthesis of the folk song fragments creates a musical narrative in "Swiss Mosaic" that captures the history and soul of Swiss culture. Götz not only demonstrates his technical ability, but also his sensitivity to the emotional depth and complexity of folk songs. The work becomes a homage to the Swiss musical tradition and shows how contemporary composers can carry on the cultural heritage with respect and innovation.

Markus Götz's "Swiss Mosaic" is an impressive example of the creative fusion of tradition and modernity. The clever processing of folk song fragments creates a musical masterpiece that takes listeners on a rich cultural journey. Götz shows that the tradition is alive and, in the hands of a talented composer, can become a contemporary work of art of lasting value. “Swiss Mosaic” is not only a musical experience, but also a homage to the cultural diversity and creativity of Switzerland.
