Born on August 2, 1834 in Colmar, France, Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi is one of the most important sculptors of the 19th century. His most famous work is undoubtedly the "Statue of Liberty," a gift from France to the United States, unveiled in New York in 1886. This iconic statue symbolizes freedom and democracy and became a worldwide landmark.

Bartholdi's artistic talent was evident early on, and after his training in Paris, he began working on various monumental projects. Another impressive work by Bartholdi is "The Lion of Belfort," a monumental sculpture commemorating the defense of the city of Belfort during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71. This imposing sculpture symbolizes the courage and determination of the French defenders.

In addition to these famous works, Bartholdi also created lesser-known but equally impressive works. An example of this is the piece "4 Angelic Trumpeters", which, while not as well known as the Statue of Liberty or the Lion of Belford, still shows the variety and depth of Bartholdi's artistic output. This sculpture embodies his ability to create both monumental and detailed, finely crafted works.

Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi died in Paris on October 4, 1904. However, his legacy lives on, not only through his impressive sculptures, but also through musical works inspired by his art. An example of this is the suite "Liberty" for wind orchestra, which immortalizes his best known works in musical form. The movements of this suite, "Statue of Liberty", "4 Angelic Trumpeters" and "The Lion of Belford", reflect the variety and artistic richness of Bartholdi's output, expressing his monumental works in a new, sonic dimension.
