Additional info/contents The title of Majestica is taken from the word 'majestic' which means 'having or displaying great dignity or nobility' and was inspired by Psalm 8:9. It was composed for the 8th grade band members of the Madison County Central School Band 2006-2007 as an expression of my appreciation for their encouragement and positive impact in my life. It is my hope that Majestica will provide students with a song that they will enjoy learning to play and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used in helping to motivate and encourage their students.

Programme notes *: additional text

"Majestica" was inspired by Psalm 8:9, which praises the majesty and beauty of creation. The psalm speaks of the splendour of the heavens, the earth and the sea and emphasises the special place of man in creation. Gary Gazlay has taken these themes and incorporated them into his composition. "Majestica" is intended to remind listeners of the wonders and grandeur of nature and to inspire them to appreciate the beauty of creation. "Majestica" is an orchestral piece characterised by powerful melodies, dynamic contrasts and a majestic sound. The piece begins with a dramatic and uplifting theme depicting the majesty of creation. This theme is taken up and developed by various instrumental groups, creating a rich palette of sound. The music conveys a sense of dignity and grandeur, inviting the listener to lose themselves in the grandeur of creation.

"Majestica" has a strong emotional impact on the listener. The music touches the heart and evokes feelings of awe, admiration and gratitude. The piece reminds us that creation is a wonderful and sublime gift to be cherished and preserved. The music uplifts the soul and invites the listener to explore and admire the beauty of the world around them.
