Additional info/contents	This march, opus 470 in Johann Strauss the Younger's oeuvre, was dedicated to the k.u.k. Infanterie-Regiment Hoch- und Deutschmeister No. 4 on the occasion of its 200th anniversary. In 1896 this joyful event was celebrated with a grand concert featuring no less than seven military bands, with more than 350 musicians performing. For this festive occasion, Johann Strauss the Younger, Josef Bayer and Josef Hellmesberger each composed a march and all three of them found favour with the audience. It is unclear why Strauss was asked to write a march, as the other two composers were former members of the Deutschmeister. For the anniversary concert, 24 other marches had were presented but were all refused because of their lack of quality. This march by Strauss, however, was an excellent contribution and is still often performed today.
