Dating back to 1977, Be Still is Lauridsen's musical statement on the Viet Nam conflict, incorporating the text of A. E. Housman to powerful effect. Its premiere recording is part of the new CD, which also features excerpts from his very popular choral cycles, Les Chansons des Roses and Madrigali, along with the complete Nocturnes, and more. Lauridsen spent a good amount of time with the young choir Voce, becoming more and more impressed with their skills, and is even heard playing piano on the recording. For advanced performers.
