Additional info/contents In December 2007 the German composer Markus Götz visited Midwest Clinic in Chicago, one of the most important events for Wind Music. He was very impressed by the positive atmosphere and how the whole festival was bustling with energy. This unique spirit and fascinating impressions of Chicago in the winter inspired him to write "Chicago Festival".
A distinctive opening theme represents the dynamic atmosphere of Midwest Clinic, and the lyrical section describes the view over the beautiful wintry Lake Michigan. A subsequent cheerful passage is dedicated to the thousands of young people making music during the festival. A reprise of the opening theme and a sweeping finale bring "Chicago Festival" to a close.

The MIDWEST Festival in Chicago, an outstanding event for orchestras, conductors and musicians, has established itself as an important platform for wind instruments and brass music in the USA. Markus Götz, a renowned German composer, attended the MIDWEST Festival in Chicago in December 2007. The festival, known for its dynamism and promotion of brass music, left a deep impression on Götz. He was particularly impressed by the positive, energetic spirit that permeated the entire event. This inspiring experience became the source of his creativity and led to the creation of his latest composition, "Chicago Festival".

"Chicago Festival" by Markus Götz reflects the impressions and spirit of the MIDWEST Festival. The composition begins with a striking opening theme that represents the forward-thinking and enthusiastic mood during the MIDWEST Festival. This musical representation of the festival creates a lively introduction to the composition.

The lyrical part of the composition in ¾ time takes its inspiration from the wintry view of Lake Michigan. Here Markus Götz lets the music capture an atmospheric and melancholic mood that reflects the magic of the wintry metropolis of Chicago. This section offers a contrasting and emotional aspect to "Chicago Festival".

A cheerful section of the composition is dedicated to the thousands of young people who make music during the MIDWEST Festival. Götz captures the enthusiasm and energy of the young musicians who showcase their talents during the event. This section serves as a tribute to the future generations of musicians who will be inspired by the MIDWEST Festival.

The composition closes with a recapitulation of the opening theme and a brilliant finale. This conclusion reflects the highlights and excitement of the MIDWEST Festival. Markus Götz's musical expression cleverly combines the various impressions and emotions he experienced during his visit to Chicago.

"Chicago Festival" by Markus Götz is not only a composition, but also an artistic expression of the positive energy and inspiration that the MIDWEST Festival in Chicago offers. The music captures the variety of impressions, from the dynamic festival atmosphere to the winter impressions and youthful enthusiasm. This composition stands as a sonic monument to the cultural significance of the MIDWEST Festival and the inspiring power of music.
