Programme notes *: I was inspired for this little composition by the short story "The Japanese Quince" by John Galsworthy, in which a charming garden plays a role. A nice melody, formed by the first notes with which beginners start their first wind instrument, "sings" accompanied by fine harmonies. The piece essentially consists of two parts, which alternate again and again. In the last phase of the composition, a short, contrapuntally enriched section enriches the musical structure: the head motif of the main melody appears imitatorily in different voices. In this way, the conductor, for example, is also given further opportunities to explain structural elements in the music.
