Composer Sorenson, Dean
Difficulty level 2
Duration 3:40
Additional info/contents A sweet, melodic, light bossa nova - with a bite! Melbourne Walk-Up was inspired by the composer's visit to Melbourne, Australia, where, in the absence of an elevator in his hotel, he had to trek up the stairs with all of his luggage. Soreneson says: 'I composed this melody the following day, as I rested my sore back.

Flexible orchestration allows it to be played by as few as 9 players. Additionally, everyone in the ensemble has an opportunity to improvise in the open solo section, and the set includes two suggested solos and a CD with a solo practice track, to facilitate successful improvisation.
