Trombones are mostly used as an extension of the trumpet register. Baritone and tuba have the bass function in the brass register. The three original oboe parts are usually fully covered by the Bb clarinets (1st and 2nd also by the flutes) and the bassoons by the bass clarinet (usually also by the baritone). In the solo passages of oboes and bassoons, cue notes are indicated in the previously mentioned instruments, so that under certain circumstances a performance without double-reed instruments could also be realised. The saxophone register is mostly attached to the horns and otherwise to the woodwind register.
