Additional info/contents	In Another Opening Neuböck reverts to entertaining dance-like and rhythmic modes of expression such as we also known from the musik of Klaus-Peter Bruchmann, for example. The orchestra is brilliantly employed as a musical bearer of ideas. Imaginativeness, movement structure and orchestration are masterly and also convincing in their correlation to the theme chosen by the composer. The work is humorous and lively in its conception, and could also be described as a concerto-type scherzo. The beginning is marked by an opening prelude in which the thematic material on the basis of a rising five-note sequence is introduced and immediately and effectively reworked in close counterpoint. The songlike section which follows receives an additional "drive" through the syncopated interjections of the accompanying instruments. A recapitulation of the initial scherzo leads into the really cantabile section of the piece. Beautiful woodwind soli and particularly a wonderful alto saxophone solo lend this passage a rather dreamy character which, however, soon intensifies and expands into a more elevated sound. In the renewed scherzando the various instruments are drawn together into a bright musical dialogue before the work comes to an exhilarating and vigorous close.

Programme notes *: Fritz Neuböck, the fireman of wind music - technically he is the conductor of Feuerwermusik Langwies, Ebensee - enters the musical ring with "Another Opening" to extinguish the entrenched "blinder thinking". For him it's not only dangerous, but also a bit like looking at old sheet music with a magnifying glass and missing the whole world. In his inimitable style he says: "Preserving tradition doesn't mean just guarding the ashes. No, it's about carrying the fire on as if you were the Olympic torchbearer of brass music!" "Another Opening" is Neuböck's personal all-round strike against dusty structures and musical mothballs. The opening is like a musical wake-up call prelude, as if someone with a tambourine were marching through the sleepy brass band village shouting: "Wake up, people! It's time for a musical revolution!" The five-tone sequence climbs up like an ambitious brass musician climbing a ladder looking for his music on the top shelf. The song-like part is the charming flirtation of the piece. It's as if the orchestra were saying with a wink: "Hey, we can't just be loud and fast, but also soulful. Hold on to your beer mugs, we're going to play something romantic!" The syncopated interjections of the accompanying instruments are like the waiter making a little joke while serving the soup - because laughter is still the best seasoning. In the Scherzando part, the various instruments compete in a musical battle royale, as if they were asking each other: "Who has the funniest melodies? Who can do the weirdest notes?" At the end they all leave the ring with a rousing finale, as if they had just won the musical marathon. "Another Opening" is not just a composition - it is Neuböck's tongue-in-cheek appeal to join in. He calls to us: "Stop the musical stuffiness! Let's let the brass music explode in a firework display of fresh ideas!" And if the music world were a party, then "Another Opening" would be the star guest that gets everyone on the dance floor.
