Composer Henry VIII
Arranger Sparke, Philip
Difficulty level 3
Duration 6:26
Additional info/contents The English King Henry VIII (1491-1547) is remembered today mainly as a man who repeatedly got rid of his wives. As a young man, Henry wrote numerous songs, poems and sonnets. Of these, Pastime with Good Company, which he wrote at the beginning of the 16th century, is undoubtedly the most famous. The text tells of the joys of hunting, dancing and singing and was probably sung for entertainment at court. Philip Sparke's arrangement makes the piece playable for a modern wind orchestra without neglecting the spirit of the original.
