Additional info/contents
Originally sung by a bass soloist in Handel's oratorio of 1743 and played as a concert and contest solo by countless instrumentalists since, this heroic air is very convincing as a brass quintet. 1st Trumpet assumes the role of soloist for the most part, though some lead phrases are shared with other ensemble members for extra contrast and color. Commissioned by the Eastside Brass Quintet of Rochester, NY, and best played by groups of grade 4 abilities or better, this faithful adaptation is a worthy addition to standard quintet repertoire .
