Additional info/contents Hasses Misere in c existiert in mehreren authentischen Fassungen. Die Erstfassung von 1735 war für die Mädchen des Ospedale degl’Incurabili in Venedig besimmt; Carus bietet eine spätere Fassung für gemischte Stimmen. Das Werk, ursprünglich in den Rahmen einer venezianischen Kirchenfeier an Kartagen gehörend, umfasst acht Teile kontrastierenden Charakters. Unmittelbar einnehmend sind die Ritornelle, in denen kurze Phrasen und sequenzierte Glieder zu feinen Linien ausgesponnen werden, sowie die vom Belcanto geprägten Solostimmen. Statt Entsetzen und Erschütterung bewirken zu wollen, verweist Hasses Musik eher auf den Trost, der dem um Erbarmen flehenden Menschen verheißen ist, und will durch ihre Schönheit den Hörer ergreifen und zur Andacht führen.
