Additional info/contents	"Hansel and Gretel" is a late Romantic opera in three acts, written in the early 1890s. The music is by Engelbert Humperdinck, the libretto was written by his sister Adelheid Wette after the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel from the Brothers Grimm's Kinder- und Hausmärchen. The authors' work title is "Fairy Tale Play in Three Pictures". It was performed for the first time on 23 December 1893 in Weimar at the Court Theatre with Richard Strauss conducting.
