Additional info/contents	Die Struktur dieses Quintetts entspricht der Cello-Sonate von Debussy, die ich 2010 in New York mit dem amerikanischen Cellisten Andrew Yee, Mitglied des Attacca Quartet gespielt habe. Der erste Satz meines Werkes beginnt mit einer kurzen Einleitung, die sich in vier intensiv lyrische Passagen auflöst und alle fünf Instrumente zur Geltung bringt. Eine Sequenz mit drei Dur-Akkorden (Ces, B und G) beendet diesen Satz so wie er begonnen hat. Der zentrale Satz, ein ruhiges, ziemlich kurzes Scherzo, ebenfalls sehr lyrisch, mit sinnlichen Harmonien, endet mit einem kurzen Zitat aus der Première Rhapsodie von Debussy. Wie in der Sonate von Debussy führt dies unmerklich zum dritten und letzten Satz, einem intensiven, rhythmisch dynamischen Finale. Hier wird das Thema des ersten Satzen wiederholt, mit jazzartigen pizzicato Begleitfiguren. Die drei Schlüssel-Akkorde des ersten Satzes sind wiederholt zu hören, bevor ein flüchtiger Überblick der Einleitung das Werk mit einem Auftakt beendet. Ein verschrobener, unterhaltsamer Satz. Juli im grossen Saal der University of Aberystwyth, Wales (GB), im Rahmen des Aberystwyth MusicFest 2012 von David Campbell und dem Sacconi Quartet uraufgeführt. Die französische Erstaufführung - mit David Campbell und dem Quatuor Girard - fand am 17.August 2012 am Festival de Musique Classique d'Uzerche, Corrèze, am statt. Das Konzert wurde von der Fondation d'Entreprise Banque Populaire, Paris, unterstützt. The quintet is based in the same structure as Debussy's Cello Sonata which I played with the American cellist and Attacca Quartet member, Andrew Yee, in New York in 2010. The first movement of my own work starts with a brief introduction before dissolving into four passages of intense lyricism featuring all five instruments. A sequence of three major chords (C-flat, B-flat and G) conclude the movement which ends as it starts. The middle movement is a quiet, fleeting scherzo, again highly lyrical and with sensual harmonies. It concludes with a brief quotation from Debussy's Première Rapsodie. Like the Sonata of Debussy it leads almost unnoticed into the third and final movement, a highly-charged and rhythmically dynamic finale. Here the theme from the first movement is presented as a jazz-like pizzicato accompaniment figure. The three 'key' chords from the first movement are heard again before a brief glimpse of the work's introduction ends the work on an upbeat note. The movement is quirky and amusing. The French premiere was by David Campbell and the Quatuor Girard as part of the 2012 Festival de Musique Classique d'Uzerche, Corrèze, on 17 August 2012. The concert was supported by the Fondation d'Entreprise Banque Populaire, Paris. La structure de ce quintette est identique à celle de la Sonate pour violoncelle de Debussy, que j'avais jouée à New York en 2010 avec le violoncelliste Américain Andrew Yee, membre de l'Attacca Quartet. Le premier mouvement de ma propre composition commence avec une brève introduction avant de se dissoudre en quatre passage intensément lyriques mettant en évidence les 5 instruments. Une sequence de trois accords majeurs (Do bémol, Si bémol et Sol) conclut ce mouvement comme il a commencé. Le mouvement centrale est un scherzo tranquille assez court, également très lyrique et avec des harmonies sensuelles, qui se termine avec une brève citation tirée de la Première Rhapsodie de Debussy. Comme dans la Sonate de Debussy cela mène imperceptiblement au troisième et dernier mouvement, un final très dense et rythmiquement dynamique. Ici le thème du premier mouvement est repris avec des figures d'accompagnement en pizzicato aux connotations de jazz. Les trois accords 'clé' du premier mouvement réapparaissent avant qu'un bref aperçu de l'introduction mette un point final à l'oeuvre sur une levée. Ce mouvement est surprenant et amusant.
