Additional info/contents	Der finnische Tubist Harri Lidsle bat mich, dieses Stück zu komponieren. Um ehrlich zu sein, die Instrumentation die er mir vorschlug, brachte mich zuerst aus der Fassung... Eine einzige Tuba übertönt bereits mühelos ein Symphonie-Orchester Tutti und da sollen es zwei sein, mit Streichquartett und Klavier. Nach längerem Nachdenken entschloss ich mich, dem Problem eine andere Herausforderung entgegenzustellen: Ich nannte das Stück 'Blues' und entwickelte zwei sich eng folgende Melodielinien, die schlussendlich nur noch eine einzige bilden. The proposed instrumentation of two tubas with a string quartet and pianoforte was a source of consternation to me, since a single tuba can easily balance, in terms of dynamics, a full symphony orchestra playing in tutti. Following an elongated period of reflection, I decided to resolve this 'balance' issue by adding yet another challenge: I called the piece 'Blues' and created two independent melodies (one for each tuba) that follow each other closely, thereby creating, in a virtual sense, a single melodic line. Pour être franc, l'instrumentation proposée m'a d'abord décontenancé... Un tuba seul peut déjà facilement émerger d'un tutti d'orchestre symphonique et en voici deux, avec un quatuor à cordes et un piano. Après une longue reflexion, j'ai décidé de résoudre ce problème en jetant un défi supplémentaire.
