Additional info/contents	Prometheus and the Gift of Fire [Prometheus und die Gabe des Feuers] wurde vom Tubisten Roger Bobo bestellt, 2009 komponiert und vom Trompeter John Aley und dem Euphonium/Tuba Ensemble der Wisconsin-Madison University unter der Leitung des Komponisten uraufgeführt. Es ist John Stevens zweites Werk, das sich auf die griechische Mythologie bezieht -nach The Liberation of Sisyphus für Tuba solo und Euphonium/Tuba Ensemble [Editions Bim TU9b/c - 1999 - 10'50'', ebenfalls von Roger Bobo beauftragt und eingespielt]. Das vorliegende Werk ist frei inspiriert von den Fortschritten der Menschheit, die sie dank dem Feuer, das Prometheus den Titanen gestohlen hatte, realisieren konnte. Der Klavierauszug ist von der Hand des Komponisten. Das Werk gibt es noch in einer dritten Fassung, nämlich für Trompete und Streicher. TP305a Prometheus and the Gift of Fire was commissioned by tubist Roger Bobo, composed in 2009 and premiered by University of Wisconsin-Madison professor of trumpet John Aley with the UW-Madison Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble under the direction of the composer. It is the first sequel to the composer's earlier work based on Greek mythology, The Liberation of Sisyphus for solo tuba and tuba/euphonium ensemble (Editions Bim TU9 - 1999 - 10'50''), also commissioned and recorded by Bobo. The work loosely depicts the improvement in the lot of mortal man when presented with fire, stolen from the Titans by Prometheus. The piano reduction has been written by the composer, and there is as well a version for trumpet and strings available. Composée en 2009, elle a été créée par le trompettiste John Aley et l'ensemble d'euphoniums et de tubas de l'Université de Wisconsin-Madison dirigé par le compositeur. C'est la seconde oeuvre de John Stevens, après The Liberation of Sisyphus pour tuba solo et ensemble d'euphoniums et de tubas [Editions Bim TU9b/c - 1999 - 10'50'', également commandée et enregistrée par Roger Bobo], basée sur la mythologie grecque. Dans cette oeuvre, l'auteur s'inspire librement des progrès réalisés au niveau de la condition humaine grâce à la maîtrise du feu, volée aux Titans par Prométhée. La réduction de piano a été réalisée par le compositeur et l'oeuvre est également disponible dans une version pour trompette et cordes.
