Wettbewerb von 1998 in Auftrag gegebene Werk umfasst drei in einem durchgespielte Teile. Die Einleitung bildet ein Quinten- und Quartenmotiv, das im ganzen Werk präsent sein wird. In diesem ersten, recht munteren Teil wechseln Elemente von charakteristischer Rhythmik mit lyrischer gestimmten Stellen ab; in der Mitte wird ein halblangsamer nostalgischer Walzer anskizziert. Eine kurze Kadenz leitet zum Mittelteil über, dessen musikalische Substanz dem Jazz in Form eines langsamen Blues' in häufig polytonaler Harmonik entnommen wurde und endet mit dem Beginn eines leichten, fröhlichen 6/8-Marsches, den eine sentimentalere Episode unterbricht. Dann kommt die traditionelle Kadenz, die in einer Erinnerung an den Blues ausklingt. Und plötzlich ertönt wieder der Marsch bis zum Final. Das Werk ist Michel Becquet gewidmet, der dem Komponisten mit wertvollen Ratschlägen zur Seite stand. Commissioned by the International Geneva Music Competition as the required piece for its 54th competition in 1998, the work consists of three parts that are played without breaks. A motif of fifths and fourths is featured in the introduction and recurs throughout the piece. The character of the first section is rather quick, and there is alternation of characteristic rhythmic elements with a more lyrical atmosphere. In the middle is a suggestion of a semi-slow nostalgic waltz. A short cadenza leads to the central part whose musical substance is jazz-flavored, utilizing a kind of slow blues in an often polytonal harmony which ends with the beginning of a 6/8 march that is light and joyous, interrupted by a more sentimental episode. Then comes the traditional cadenza, which ends with a reminiscence of the blues. All of a sudden the march is taken up again until the finale. The work is dedicated to Michel Becquet, whom the composer wishes to thank for his valuable advice. Commandée par le Concours International d'Exécution Musicale de Genève comme morceau imposé au 54e Concours en 1998, l'œuvre comporte trois parties jouées sans interruption. Un motif de quintes et quartes sert d'introduction, motif qui sera présent tout au long de l'oeuvre. De caractère plutôt allègre, ce premier volet alterne les éléments aux rythmes caractérisés avec ceux d'un climat plus lyrique, avec, au centre, l'esquisse d'une valse semi-lente nostalgique. Une courte cadence conduit à la partie centrale dont la substance musicale est empruntée au jazz sous la forme d'un blues lent dans une harmonie souvent polytonale et qui s'achève dans le début d'une marche à 6/8 légère et joyeuse, interrompue par un épisode plus sentimental. Puis intervient la traditionnelle cadence se terminant dans le souvenir du blues. Et la marche reprend subitement pour conclure l'oeuvre de manière très brillante. L'oeuvre est dédiée à Michel Becquet dont le compositeur a apprécié les précieux conseils. Gewicht: 0.123
