Additional info/contents Double Jeu (double game) is a four movement piece inspired by the 4 colors of the pack of playing cards: 1. Carreau (Diamonds), 2. Trèfle (Clubs), 3. Coeur (Hearts), and 4. Pique (Spades). The work was written for contrabassists Richard Dubugnon and Thierry Barbé (principal of the Paris Opéra Orchestra) who premiered the work December 16th 2005 at the Espace Cardin in Paris.
The dramatic and expressive power of contrabass is widely exploited in the work's four movements of contrasting forms and styles.
