These high horn studies are designed to add a new dimension of technical challenge and musical reward for the horn player. They are carefully constructed to expand all of a player's capabilities while relying on a melodic and traditional sense of composition. The altissimo register of the horn should be a natural extension of a player's solid ease in the middle range. The tempo markings are exact and should be carefully observed. All the double bars are intended as points of rest if desired. The studies are based on the works for clarinet of Cyrille Rose (1830-1902), important teacher and author of pedagical material still widely in use today. Ces études pour cor aigu offrent une nouvelle dimension au défi technique et au plaisir musical des cornistes. Elles sont soigneusement construites de façon à développer toutes les ressources du musicien, tout en se référant au sens mélodique et à la forme traditionnelle de composition.
