Additional info/contents	Vor einigen Jahren hatte ich die bekannten 'Sechs kanonischen Duette' von Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) für Tuba und/oder Euphonium bearbeitet und dabei die Geschicktheit dieser Schreibart sehr bewundert. Als ich festellte, dass für tiefe Blechblasinstrumente keine Literatur in diesem kontrapunktischen Stil vorhanden ist, habe ich mich entschlossen, diese Lücke zu füllen. Die kontrapunktische Technik, die zwei identische musikalische Stimmen verschoben führt, war eine Herausforderung und meine ersten Versuchen im Barockstil waren nicht leicht. Als ich aber an Brian Kiser's Bestellung arbeitete, habe ich die heutigen grösseren harmonischen und rhythmischen Freiheiten ausgenützt und so allmählich meinen eigenen Kompositionsstil gefunden. Obwohl diese Stücke für zwei Bass-tuben geschrieben wurden, können sie auch mit (oder kombiniert mit) Euphonien oder Posaunen gespielt werden. Realizing that there was no music of this contrapuntal style written specifically for low brass instruments, I decided to write these Six Roundabouts. The contrapuntal technique used in writing two lines of music that are identical yet staggered seemed overwhelming at first, and my initial sketches in the Baroque style turned out placid at best. However, as I approached this commission by Brian Kiser, I took advantage of the greater harmonic and rhythmic freedom that we have today and began to find my own compositional voice. Though these works are written for two bass tubas, they are also playable on (or in combinations with) euphoniums or trombones. Toutefois lorsque je me suis attelé à cette commande de Brian Kiser, j'ai exploité les plus grandes libertés harmoniques et rythmiques qu'offre notre époque et j'ai peu à peu trouvé mon propre style de composition.
