Zugeschrieben wird sie dem italienischen Komponisten Giuseppe Giordani, der vor allem aufgrund seines Opernschaffens große Berühmtheit erlangte. Auf den sehnsuchsvollen Text dieser Arie – etwa „senza di te languisce il cor“ (ohne dich ist mein Herz schwach) – nimmt Gwyn Arch in seinem Chorarrangement feinsinnig Bezug.
