Additional info/contents	This work was composed for the 28th Fête Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises (28th Vaud Cantonal Music Festival), which will take place in June 2018 in the Vallée de Joux. The music begins with a fanfare consisting of a very simple sequence of five tied, ascending notes that form the basic framework of the piece. Afterwards, a rather cantabile theme is heard as a contrast. The Allegro that follows uses the opening sequence in a contrapuntal style reminiscent of the Renaissance, but with more contemporary harmonies. Two solo cadenzas in cornet and euphonium open the middle section, which again uses a theme derived from the sequence, building up to the climax of the piece. The final section processes the sequence in what feels like a whole-bar ¾ time. Shortly before a very festive conclusion, the music of the middle section is taken up once more.
