Just opposite Hardegg Castle, a massive rock rises out of the forest, called Regina Rock. Once upon a time a wild, young count lived at Hardegg Castle. He caroused with his cronies and otherwise led a blasphemous life. Many a pretty girl was seduced by the count, only to be pushed away again after a short time. One day he also wanted to bring the beautiful Regina to his castle, but the maid resisted all his false vows of love. Then the count had her kidnapped by his servants and brought to his castle. But even here she resisted all his wishes and so the count ordered his henchmen to wall Regina into the rock face opposite the castle alive. When the count wanted to look at his horrible work, he fell from the rock with his grey horse. The body of the knight and his horse were never found. But the count must suffer his death fall again until the last day as a punishment. The people gave him the name Schimmelreiter and called the rock from then on the Regina Rock. But the dead virgin has been looking for her grave since that time and floats to the cemetery at midnight. The Black Woman often frightened the inhabitants of Hardegg, until one night a forester walked across the cemetery, saw the black female figure, tore his rifle from his shoulder and shot at it. Since that time no one has seen the Black Woman in Hardegg. (From: Legends and legends from Hardegg)
