Programme notes *: additional text

In a world where shadows and silence filled the days, a man found himself within the gloomy walls of a long-term imprisonment. His story was riddled with years of torment and loneliness. Every day in his iron cage felt like an eternity, and the longing for his family, whom he had not seen in so long, grew with every breath.

The warmth of the sun, the laughter of the children, all of this seemed to have receded into the distance. The harsh chains of captivity had almost cut off any hope of seeing his family again. But in the darkest moments, a flame of resistance ignited in his heart. He dreamed of freedom and a future that was not determined by the barren walls of his cell.

One day, as the moon sent its pale glow through the barred window, he decided that the time had come. He gathered every fiber of his courage and began to hatch a daring escape plan. The notes of oppression were to be replaced by the melody of freedom, and so was created "The Escape", a composition for wind band that would bring to life the emotions and challenges of his journey.

The escape itself was a wild dance with the darkness. The prisoner had to move in the shadows, sneaking silently like the wind, to deceive the guards. The musical accompaniment led the listeners through this restless night, in which the fugitive made his way through narrow streets, across abandoned courtyards and through dense forests. The music echoed as his footsteps faded into the darkness.

Despite the danger in the air, his resolve grew with each step. The sounds of "The Escape" filled the night as he shook off his pursuers like the notes carried the wind through his hair. Every harmony, every crescendo was an expression of his freedom.

Finally, after many restless moments, he reached a familiar place that he had not seen for so long. The gloom gave way to the glow of dawn as he reached the clearing called home. The orchestra sounded triumphant as he opened the door, and in the arms of his family he found the long-awaited reunion.

The melody of "The Escape" not only told this story, but also celebrated the powerful resilience of the human spirit. In the sounds he found the voice that had been taken away from him in years of silence, and together with the orchestra he wrote a new chapter in which the power of music broke the chains of oppression and freedom triumphed.
