Programme notes *: additional text

The composition "Blues for George" by James Rae is an expressive piece that takes up the typical features of the blues genre and combines them with modern elements. James Rae, an experienced musician and educator, has perfectly expressed his love of jazz and blues in this composition.

"Blues for George" is characterized by its melancholic melody and its characteristic 12-bar blues form. The piece begins with a slow and soulful theme led by a solo instrument. The gentle sound of the solo instrument is supported by a subtle accompaniment from the rhythm section, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

As the composition progresses, the theme develops further and is taken up and varied by different instruments. The rhythm section plays an important role in "Blues for George", providing a driving rhythm with its swinging groove that drives the piece forward.

The solo passages in "Blues for George" give the musicians the opportunity to show off their improvisational skills and experiment with the melody. The composition offers enough space for creative freedom and allows the musicians to express their own musical personality.

"Blues for George" is a successful homage to traditional blues and shows James Rae's ability to combine traditional musical styles with modern elements. The piece is an excellent example of Rae's musical diversity and his love of music. It is a must for all jazz and blues lovers and an enrichment for any repertoire.
