Programme notes *: "Homeward Voyage" is a beautiful composition by Naoya Wada, written especially for a school wind orchestra. It is touching to hear how the Japanese composer captures in this piece the emotions and feelings that accompany him during his travels between Tokyo and his birthplace. "Journey Home" musically describes the different aspects of this journey. The passing landscapes observed during the journey of about 1000 kilometres are represented in the music through melodic and tonal elements. This description of the landscapes can evoke memories and allow listeners to connect with their own experiences and sensations. The anticipation of seeing friends and family again is represented by musical motifs or themes that convey hope, excitement or joy.
