Additional info/contents	Mendelssohns unvollendetes 3. Oratorium in der ersten kritischen Ausgabe. Die Teile 'Die Geburt Christi' und 'Das Leiden Christi' liegen vollständig orchestriert vor. Von einem unvollendet gebliebenen Oratorium wurden 1852, fünf Jahre nach Mendelssohns Tod, zwei selbständig aufführbare Fragmente unter dem Titel 'Christus' veröffentlicht. Das zweite Fragment 'Das Leiden Christi' führt mitten in das Passionsgeschehen: Es behandelt die Szene „Jesus vor Pilatus“ in raschem, dramatischem Wechsel von Evangelistenrezitativen (Tenor) und Volkschören. Ein betrachtender Chorsatz bildet den Abschluss.
