Additional info/contents Im Jahre 1856, in dem ausgiebig Mozarts hundertster Geburtstag gefeiert wurde, komponierte Franz Lachner das Requiem f-moll op. 146, das eines seiner bekanntesten und bedeutendsten Werke wurde. Die intensiven Auseinandersetzungen Lachners mit der Musik Mozarts anlässlich des Mozartjahres legen nahe, dass Lachner zur Komposition des Requiems nicht durch einen persönlichen Anlass - etwa einen Todesfall in Familie oder Bekanntenkreis - angeregt wurde. Obwohl Lachners Musik sich bei genauer Betrachtung als grundverschieden von der Mozarts erweist, zeigt sich in diesem Werk Lachners ein deutlicher Ausdruck seiner Mozart-Verehrung. Die Parallelen dieser Komposition zu Mozarts Requiem-Vertonung erstrecken sich über Merkmale der Texteinteilung und der formalen Gestaltung bis hin zur ähnlichen Behandlung einzelner Abschnitte, Themen und Motive.
