Additional info/contents In the 17th and 18th centuries Salzburg, where Leopold Mozart was for many years vice-chapel master in the court chapel of the prince archbishop, was a centre for the maintenance of polyphonic offertory settings and the polyphonic offertory concert, which developed into one of the main genres of Catholic church music in southern Germany. The determination of the offertory for Salzburg Cathedral seems obvious, as the 'solemne' instrumentation of trumpets and timpani speaks for.
