The "Queen Anne's Revenge" was a notorious sailing ship that sailed under the command of the legendary pirate captain Blackbeard at the beginning of the 18th century. Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Thatch or Edward Teach, was notorious for his cruelty and ruthless treatment of his enemies. The Queen Anne's Revenge was originally a French slave ship called La Concorde, which was captured by Blackbeard in November 1717 and renamed Queen Anne's Revenge. Under Blackbeard's command, the ship was equipped with 40 cannons and became one of the most feared ships in the Caribbean. Blackbeard used the "Queen Anne's Revenge" to raid numerous ships and capture large quantities of treasure. Legend has it that Blackbeard deliberately sank the ship off the coast of North Carolina in June 1718 in order to get rid of his crew and escape with the captured treasure.
