Additional info/contents	Crusade for Freedom was written the year following Richard's retirement as conductor of the Long Beach Band. Like all good marches, this one has both repetition - for example, the quick, slurred notes on the downbeats in the first and second strain - and variety, notably in the dynamic contrast and the alternation of brass and woodwind passages. The challenging piccolo obligato and the triumphant final strain hold the listener's interest to the end.
