Additional info/contents
This Christmas favorite has been cleverly arranged for flute and clarinet quartet in a swing style by jazz writer Jeff Jarvis. The popular song by Jack Rollins and Steve Nelson about the happy-go-lucky snow man with the corncob pipe, a button nose and two eyes made out of coal, is arranged at the grade 3+ level. Jarvis' setting utilizes catchy, yet accessible swing rhythms, and provides brief rests for each player at strategic intervals. Dense, satisfying jazz voicings give this selection a light-hearted, authentic jazz flavor that is well-suited for the inherent timbre and agility of flutes and clarinets.
